AI upscaling killed native graphics gaming. We're better off for it
Even for me, someone who's an avid graphics card hardware enthusiast, it took some time to warm up to the idea of AI rdesolution upscaling. But this newfangled technology has been embraced over the past few years by virtually every major GPU manufacturer, with Nvidia leading the pack with DLSS and others following in its wake, including AMD with FSR, Intel with XeSS, and even Sony with PSSR on the PlayStation 5 Pro. And I'm now ready to say it: real-time AI upscaling tech has made native resolution graphics obsolete in gaming. Keep reading to learn what AI upscaling is, why it's revolutionary, and what it means for all the new games you'll be playing in the future. AI resolution upscaling (also just called AI upscaling) is when a game renders its frames at a resolution that's lower than your display's native resolution, then uses AI image processing techniques to scale that rendered frame back up to native resolution.

Tested: Nvidia's GeForce RTX 4090 pushes laptops to blistering new frontiers
Enthusiast laptop hardware is nothing to scoff at these days. Both the Intel and Nvidia's new flagship mobile parts have finally hit shelves, and the massive notebooks that they power are incredibly potent. And no surprise here, but Nvidia's GeForce RTX 4090 for laptops is absolutely ferocious. Though not an exact replica of its desktop counterpart (a sore spot for some internet denizens), this graphics processor still posts huge improvements over its RTX 3080 Ti predecessor--while seemingly using less power. How big? Think performance increases as high as 70 percent in our tests.

Tested: Nvidia's GeForce RTX 4090 is a content creation juggernaut
When the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 was announced with an eye-watering $1,600 price tag, memes spread like wildfire. While $1,600 is a little too much for most gamers to spend on a single component (most PC build budgets I see are less than that for the whole PC). I couldn't help but be intrigued at the potential performance improvements for my work--you know, the 3D and AI-accelerated tasks I spend most of my day doing as part of managing the EposVox YouTube channel, instead of gaming. Spoiler alert: The GeForce RTX 4090's content creation performance is magical. In quite a few cases, the typically nonsense "2X performance increase" is actually true.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 vs RTX 3090 Deep Learning Benchmark
In this blog post, we benchmark RTX 4090 to assess its deep learning training performance and compare its performance against RTX 3090, the flagship consumer GPU of the previous Ampere generation. Available October 2022, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 is the newest GPU for gamers, creators, students, and researchers. In this post, we benchmark RTX 4090 to assess its deep learning training performance. We also compare its performance against the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 – the flagship consumer GPU of the previous Ampere generation. NVIDIA used to support their Deep Learning examples inside their PyTorch NGC containers.
AMD's radical Radeon RX 7900 XTX is brutally fast and a lot cheaper than Nvidia
The GeForce RTX 4090 is an absolute monster of a graphics card, but the battle for the next generation of GPUs is only getting started. On Thursday, AMD revealed its own 4K gaming champion, and the Radeon RX 7900 XTX and 7900 XT aim to topple Nvidia's goliath with help from a stash of smart tricks that could make David himself blush. In addition to improved ray tracing capabilities, the addition of AI cores, and memory galore, these first RDNA 3-architecture GPUs are also the first graphics cards featuring a multi-die "chiplet" design, swiping inspiration from AMD's epic Ryzen success. Just like when Ryzen disrupted Intel's stranglehold on CPUs, moving to chiplets helps AMD drastically undercut Nvidia's pricing. While the RTX 4090 costs a chest-clutching $1,599, and the impending GeForce RTX 4080 costs $1,199, the new 24GB Radeon RX 7900 XTX costs $999 and the 20GB RX 7900 will cost $899 when they launch on December 13.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 review: Fantastically, futuristically fast
Nvidia's monstrous GeForce RTX 4090 delivers luxuriously fast frame rates and futuristic features, but DLSS 3's AI speed boost may be the real star. It's a behemoth of a GPU that draws a lot of power, but Nvidia's sublime Founders Edition design remains cool, quiet, and eye-catching. Nvidia's $1,599 GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card sports a luxury price tag, but you get a truly luxurious gaming experience in return. The last-generation RTX 3090 was a speed demon, but the GeForce RTX 4090--thanks to Nvidia's new "Ada Lovelace" architecture--screams through traditional games up to 83 percent faster. Nvidia's 40-series flagship chews through futuristic ray-traced games too, propelled by more advanced 3rd-gen RT cores and a radical new "Frame Generation" DLSS 3 feature that doubles (or more) frame rates yet again with a heaping helping of AI. Creators will love the 24GB of blazing-fast GDDR6X memory when it comes to pixel-packed video renders, and Nvidia's inclusion of not one, but two AV1 video encoders means the RTX 4090 is suitably equipped to handle the future of streaming. No matter what you want to accomplish, the monstrous GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition can handle it without breaking a sweat--though your wallet and power supply might, as all this extra performance doesn't come free. This first GPU of a new generation provides our first glimpse at Nvidia's new Ada Lovelace architecture, running on a custom TSMC 4N (read: fancy 5nm) process.
